As a child of God, you have an inheritance that is precious and eternal. This is contained within the promises God has made. The Bible is the record that God has left us of what HE has promised to us. We access the promises by faith. HIS Word says, “And without faith, it is impossible to please GOD because anyone who comes to him must believe that he exists and that he rewards those who earnestly seek HIM.” We must have faith to receive the promises of God and we must be willing to walk in obedience to God to prove our faith.
In this exposition of the promises of God, we will look at HIS promises. We are not only going to look at the promises. We must consider the corresponding action that accompanies faith. We will be examining them based on these two categories of Realizing and Accessing the Promises of God II we will examine 1) God’s promises of Peace and Comfort; and 2) God’s Promises of HIS Protection. The scriptures are from the NIV (New International Version) of the bible.

Promises of Peace and Comfort
Isaiah 26:3
“You will keep in perfect peace those who are steadfast, because they trust in you.”
This verse refers to the steadfast people; those who trust in God. Steadfast people do not quit, cave in, or give up. They stay the course and trust is their constant decision. Your perfect peace comes with a consistent, committed, seeking daily, the face and presence of God.
Matthew 11:28
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”
The promise depends on knowing that Jesus can do what you need HIM to do. You must choose to believe this promise and act on it. Come believing Jesus cares about you. Let HIM hear your heart. Speak to HIM of your weariness and burdened experiences. Let HIM know you choose to rest in HIM. This will begin a lifelong weary and burdened exchange. You give HIM your weariness and burdens. HE gives you rest.
John 14:27
“Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your heart be troubled and do not be afraid.”
Jesus spoke these words to us who are keepers of HIS word. We can look to HIM for the peace HE promised and expect HIM to make good on it. We must keep our hearts troubled free and reject fear by walking in faith!

Promises of God’s Protection
Psalm 121:7-8
“The Lord will keep you from all harm–HE will watch over your life; the Lord will watch over your coming and going both now and forevermore.
This promise is to the righteous. HE said in Psalm 34:15,” The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and HIS ears are open unto their cry.” We can expect God to do what HE says when we are among the people He is naming. Here HE names “the righteous” as beneficiaries of HIS promise to keep you from all harm and watch over your life. HE will do just what HE says.
II Thessalonians 3:3
“But the LORD is faithful, and HE will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one”
Again, This scripture is for those who live for Christ and put their faith in Our Father. The very first verse in this chapter addresses members of the church at Thessalonica. You must put your faith in Christ and live for HIM to be able to access this problem
Psalm 91:4
“HE will cover you with HIS feathers, and under HIS wings you shall find refuge; HIS faithfulness will be your shield and rampart.”
The conditions for this promise are found in the very first verse of this chapter in the book of Psalms. It reads, “Whoever dwells in the shelter of the most high, will rest in the shadow of the Almighty.” It follows that you have to be living a life very close to Our Father to access this promise. All that means is that you choose to accept the Lordship of Jesus Christ and you choose HIM as your Savior. By faith, it is yours.

Every promise you find in the Word of God has been tried and has endured for over 2,000 years! The book of Numbers puts it like this, “God is not a man that HE should lie: neither the son of man that he should repent, hath HE said and shall HE not do it? Or hath he spoken, shall HE not make it good? Believe in the Lord your God so shall you be established; believe HIS prophets, so shall HE prosper. 2 Chronicles 20:20c. In other words, every promise God made is yours by faith!
