Encouragement is the word or deed that adds courage to individuals. Within the body of Christ, encouragement is spoken of in different words. Some synonyms for encouragement are Comforter; John 14:26 (the Holy Spirit) Advocate; I John 2:1 (Jesus Christ the Righteous is our Advocate) Exhort; I Timothy 2:1 (I exhort therefore, that first of all intercessions and giving of thanks, be made for all men). There are seven ways encouragement can be gained.
1. By God

Scripture: Psalms 28:7 The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust HIM with all my heart. He helps me and my heart is filled with joy.
2. By God’s Word

Scripture: Proverbs 30:5
Every word of God proves true. He is a shield to all of them who come to Him for protection
3. God’s People

Scripture: I Thessalonians 5:10-11
Christ died for us so that whether we are dead or alive when he returns, we can live with him forever. So encourage each other and build each other up, just as you are already doing.
4. Your situation

Scripture: Deuteronomy 1:38 (KJV)
But Joshua the son of Nun, which standeth before thee, he shall go in thither; encourage him: for he shall cause Israel to inherit it.
5. A Positive Response from Others

Scripture: Romans 15:13
I pray that God, the source of hope, will fill you
completely with joy and peace because you trust in him. Then you will overflow with confident hope through the power of the Holy Spirit
6. From Your Good Deeds Done

Scripture: Psalms 126:5-6
Those who plant in tears will harvest with shouts of joy. They weep as they go to plant their seed, but they sing as they return with the harvest.
7. Be encouraged by yourself

Scripture: I Samuel 30:7(KJV)
And David was greatly distressed; for the people spake of stoning him, because the soul of all the people was grieved, every man for his sons and for his daughters; but David encouraged himself in the Lord.
Psalm 55: 22
Give your burdens to the Lord and he will take care of you. He will not permit the godly to slip and fall.
Psalm 28:7
The Lord is my strength and shield. I trust him with all my heart.
